Using the healing power of theater to transform lives

We create theater-based healing programs that inspire hope, resilience, and connection for cancer survivors and the communities who love them.

Our Mission

Theater-based healing for survivors, by survivors

Born from one cancer survivor's journey, we believe the stage and the recovery room belong together. Our programs use the performing arts to build community, restore voice, and transform the experience of diagnosis and survivorship.

Every workshop, every performance, every moment we create together — it's all designed to remind people that they are more than their diagnosis.

About Us

Our Story

Cues for Cancer was founded by Darrell Wood — a classically trained singer, Union Plus Hometown Hero recipient, and cancer survivor who experienced firsthand the gap between clinical treatment and emotional healing.

What started as one person's conviction that theater could heal has grown into a movement. Today we run programs across Hampton Roads and partner with children's hospitals to bring the stage to patients who can't come to it.
