Our Story

Cues for Cancer was founded by Darrell Wood — a classically trained singer, Union Plus Hometown Hero recipient, and cancer survivor who experienced firsthand the gap between clinical treatment and emotional healing.

What started as one person's conviction that theater could heal has grown into a movement. Today we run programs across Hampton Roads and partner with children's hospitals to bring the stage to patients who can't come to it.

We believe the stage and the recovery room belong together. Every program we run is built on trauma-informed principles — honoring that healing is not linear, and every survivor deserves a space that sees and celebrates them exactly as they are.
